INNER WEATHER
– Inspired by my Mindful Self-Compassion community

I woke up
with old pain overhead,
all thunder and lightning.
I meditate with dear friends
and just like that—
I fall into the vast and fertile canyons of my heart,
the grace of slowed breathing and kindness
sheltering me from the storms of my own doing.
After the sit, friends speak of life’s bitterness,
but oh, the sweetness too!
How confessing what hurt us
moves us toward healing and each other.
Then I’m radiant as morning sun blazes within,
lit up by their brave words and tender smiles.
How lucky we are to touch one another like this,
how distance disappears in love.
